Sixty minutes Smiling
2 channel HD video, 60 min, 2014
Sixty Minutes Smiling shows a group of officially dressed men and women standing in front of a neutral background. The persons could belong to the executive management of a company. Statically posing they look with a constant smile into the camera during the entire 60 minutes. Formally the work relates to Gillian Waering’s Sixty Minutes of Silence. However Witt is less interested in the dynamics within the group but in the emotional dynamics of each single person. In the second video channel Witt focuses on the facial expression of the protagonists. Hardly noticeable in the group image details and emotions become now apparent.
