Field Test

Performance and video, Dublin Airport, 2006



In “Field Test” Witt patroled the Dublin Airport. Some people were waiting for their flights and perhaps they could see an unexpected movement in the corner of their eye, while the artist practiced action stunts for the ‘big mission’. In her performance she played the role of a narrative figure, a heroic security guard who is taking his job a little bit too serious. Not knowing where the danger is coming from; she, as the Guard, is trying to fight against an invisible danger in the style of an action hero, but there is in addition always the underlying gesture of failure, boredom and insecurity.
