Domesticated

video, 8.40 min, 2009

In an untidy stock room there is a group of young women. They hang out, they banter or are kept occupied by themselves. The camera is scanning the room and the people observantly, similar to the methods used in animal documentaries. Off-set voices are commenting on and comparing the social behaviour of their own group and on the others. Who “we” are and who “they” are is not explicitly mentioned. From the strategy of comparison emerges a self reflection about living conditions and behaviour of the “civilized” society.
